A Police Inspector’s wife
who reportedly bit off a Sergeant’s ear, has been arraigned in court on charges
bordering on conspiracy, aiding and abetting, assault and false information.
The police Inspector’s
wife, Lydia Uwadiegwu, who allegedly bit off part of a female Sergeant’s ear,
was arraigned before an Ogba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday,
alongside three other women: Ughaelunachi Justina, 61; Oladimeji Seun, 30; and
Chinelo Okoh, 30.
The suspects who conspired
and committed a felony by causing grievous harm to a woman Sergeant, Blessing
Umongu, also bathed her with ground pepper, causing her partial blindness. Seun
and Okoh were alleged to have given false information about the woman sergeant,
to Inspector Uwaduegwu, first defendant’s husband, an offence which contravened
Sections 411, 245, and 93 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants who pleaded
not guilty, were granted bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties in
the like sum. The case was adjourned
till January 7, for commencement of trial
