Kadaria Ahmed Slams Those ‘Who Criticise Her For Not Wearing Hijab

Nigerian journalist, media entrepreneur and television host Kadaria Ahmed has lambasted those who question her non-use of hijab in a Twitter post she made on Saturday, March 2.

Concise News reports that in the post, the quinquagenarian exposed her graying hair, stating that she does not fancy use of dye.
“Today, I took a big risk. Started noticing my hair is greying. I am that age so it wasn’t much of a surprise. However, I soon realised I don’t like the ‘mixed’ look. Neither, grey nor black but I also hated using black dye. So I resolved to experiment by hurrying things along.”

However, commenting on her post, a handful of users, who apparently are Muslims, were not impressed with her upload.

A particular Twitter user, Awwal Bashir (@abashirg) writes: “Alhamdullilah. The sunnah is to cover your hair and entire body.”

That comment elicited further reactions with Kadaria and many other tweeps telling Bashir to ‘mind his business’.

Meanwhile, it seems Kadaria is still furious with that aversive reaction to her post three days ago that she put up another post on Tuesday, calling out fault-finders.

She writes:

“You get high on codeine & weed, your hijab is used as cover to do all sorts. You continuously pass judgement on your fellow Muslims as if you are Allah. You backbite, cheat &steal public money but want to police my morality. My friend go perfect your religion first. Munafukai!”

Though Muslim women are ordered by Allah (God) to cover their head and wear hijab and veils, not all Muslims adhere to the injunction.

Muslim women see hijab usage as something of honour and dignity. Importance of hijab and virtues of hijab can be found in numerous verses of the Holy Quran.

In Suratul Al-Ahzab verse 59, Allah says: “O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies (i.e. screen themselves completely). That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
