Two siblings, Abdulfatai Oshun, 31; Shakiru Oshun, 22, and their half-brother, Sebeli Olatunji, 33, have been arrested by the Police in Lagos State for killing their brother, Yusfu Oshun, 25, over inheritance.
The suspects, who are currently being detained at Satellite Police Division, were said to have strangled the victim during a fight, at their 17, Kano Street, residence, Mobile Estate, Satellite Town, Lagos.
Vanguard gathered that the brothers had been at logger-heads over the sharing formula of proceeds from an expected sale of their Kano Street residence, a four-bedroom flat, an inheritance from their late father.
Sources disclosed that trouble started when a prospective buyer offered to pay N17 million for the property, and Abdulfatai, Yusfu and Shakiru, whose biological father owned the property, started quarrelling over who gets what.
It was gathered that Abdulfatail and Shakiru agreed on how the proceed would be shared, but Yusuf opposed it. His refusal was said to have led his brothers to stab him while sleeping in December 2013, which he survived and the Police at Satellite Division were alerted and the brothers were asked to write an undertaking never to fight again.
However, the situation took a new turn, last Thursday, when the brothers learnt that the buyer was coming with the money.
Yusuf was elated and told his friends around town that he was going to be rich. But his joy was cut short when he got home and a fight broke out between him and his two siblings which eventually led to his death.
A source who spoke with Vanguard on the condition of anonymity, said Yusuf’s corpse was found, Thursday afternoon, by his half brother, Olatunji, who also lives in the apartment.
According to sources, “Olatunji was arrested by the Police because they suspected he might have a hand in the killing. The quarrel among the brothers is well known to everyone.”
