Crystal Palace’s €20m Striker Bid Revealed

It’s a case of deja vu for Crystal Palace and Besiktas fans this week.
It’s been confirmed on Tuesday that Crystal Palace have posted a €20 million bid for Besiktas forward Cenk Tosun.
Tosun have been an Eagles target for months, however no deal materialised in the summer transfer market.
While Christian Benteke has rediscovered his scoring touch for Palace, the Belgian only has one league goal to his name all season. There’s clearly a need at Selhurst Park for Roy Hodgson to have more attacking options.

26-year-old Cenk Tosun has been in great form for Besiktas this season, scoring 11 goals in 20 appearances for the club.
That includes four goals (and two assists) in the Champions League.

Eagles bid confirmed
Crystal Palace’s Tosun bid has been confirmed by Besiktas president Fikret Orman.
Speaking to the local press, Orman has confirmed the south London side have submitted a formal written offer for their striker.

Yet, with a Champions League knockout match against Bayern Munich lined up, Besiktas want to reject the deal. Orman said:

We are not sure Cenk will go. We want Cenk to stay. 20 million euros is a very small figure for Cenk.
Is that a negotiation ploy from the Turks to get Palace to up their offer?
For the record, Cenk Tosun is under contract with Besiktas until 2019.

Crystal Palace on the rise

Crystal Palace recorded their first away goals of the season last weekend with a 3-0 win at Leicester City.

Christian Benteke finally broke his Premier League duck to open for the Eagles.
Benteke then set up Wilfried Zaha for Palace’s second, while an injury time goal from Bakary Sako rounded off the match.
Palace take on Swansea next weekend in the Premier League.
