The Word "Revolution" Carries Weight 2 - By Kemi Jinadu

If you missed the first part of the article please click here   Nigerian Groups protested outside Nigerian Mission in South Africa demanding for Omoyele Sowore to be released. Another group in Lagos and Abuja were also seen protesting.

I think Nigerians can do better, out of how many state in Nigeria protest were carried out in few places I believed Sowore has more supporters.
Many did not come out to protest as expected, it seemed like the seed of fear had being successfully sowed into Nigerians.
Is Government in anyway trying to silence people, are Nigerian still allowed to protest?  What is a peaceful protest in Nigeria?
Moreover, I must give credit to the Nigerian group in South Africa, the AAC groups in Lagos and Abuja.  These groups protested passionately I could feel their sincerity just by watching them on TV.

While they protested that Sowore must be release they also talked about the economic woes, many of the protesters claimed they are fed up of the same clique of leaders.
I cannot help but to agree to most of their views, the governor in the last election will become senate or minister in the next election.   Government of the few, ruled by the few, what a shame.

In my house we talked a lot about Nigeria politics especially during the last election and most times we share different views.
So since we could not agree on who the next president will be at the time curiosity set in for me.
Just before the last presidential election I put out a mini poll on my instagram page, asking some of my followers to name their favourite presidential candidate.
Even though my little followers are not a true reflection of the general public but it indicated a clear picture of the people’s choice.

Sowore and Buhari to my surprise were at loggerhead, winning the poll.
The desperation for change amongst our youth became evident, even the comments.
There are also misconceptions about Omoyele Sowore’s protest some said he was not the favoured presidential candidate, that even if Buhari did not win the election Omoyele is not the next most favoured candidate.

Sowore’s revolutionary protest movement was seen by some Nigerians and some Politians as disgruntled towards the presidential results and as a result he decided to create unrest and pandemonium in some part of Nigeria.

Many did not come out to support Sowore as expected, then again his overview objective was not evident another ambiguity for me.
Others like ex Gov Oshimole did not understand what exactly the AAC presidential candidate wanted, even if he on assumption overthrown the government.
Will Sowore now declare himself president?

Something tells me Omoyele Sowore’s arrest and charges was premeditated, well-planned way before his eventual apprehension.
The reason was that a faction member of the AAC political party he belong to publicly accused Sowore of allege anti-party activities, money laundering, misappropriation of funds, and using illicit funds to promote campaign.

My first thought was that how can you suspend the founder of a party? Could it be that there was a government agent working secretly against Sowore within the AAC political party?
These same allegations were added to the charges levelled against Omoyele Sowore by the security agents.

The security agent charge Omoyele Sowore of treason, money laundering and “cyberstalking” for allegedly sharing false information about Buhari.
For insulting president Buhari of Nigeria and inciting hate against him.

However, could it be that the security agent is just taking advantage of a once divided political party (AAC)?

Even though Sowore reacted and said a member of his political party was trying to hijack his AAC party. Which might be true but this just raised a red flag concerning the condition and state of the members of the party.
As for the insult against the current president, I think that comes indirectly with the position of being the head of a country.

All president are insulted, some might be more than the other. How many people are the Nigerian authorities going to prosecute based on insults?
Even the president of the United States get public insults, 90% news reported on TV about Donald Trump according to him were regarded as fake news.  Trump would not hesitate to negate any news he did not agree with on twitter.

Maybe the word “revolution” should be replace with the verb “change”
Then again if I am to go by my instinct whether Omoyele Sowore used the word “revolution” or not Omoyele Sowore would still be arrested.

Why is Omoyele Sowore being held after the court ordered that he should be release immediately? The DSS answer to that question was that they are yet to receive the court order, what a stupid thing to say!

A representative of the DSS both legal and a body of them were present at the court when the release order was granted to Omoyele Sowore, height of lawlessness.
The court ordered Omoyele Sowore to surrender all his travel documents within 48 hours, I suspected they will arrest him again if released. I believe the motive is to lock him up for a little bit longer just like Nnamdi Kanu.

Omoyele Sowore have to work together with his political party members.  The AAC party have to be seen as one, working together in unity, one accord to avoid opponent and maybe the government targeting and using members as a tool and as insider.
